Clapton FC
Any one on here follow Clapton FC? Looking forward to them visiting my local club Ipswich Wanderers in the FA Vase next Saturday. Looks like they have a good support including their very own band of Ultras.

Re: Clapton FC
Yes i've heard about their ultras mainly being bearded hipsters but this could be wrong as the bloke who told me was a uni educated in media Yorkshireman in his late 20's
looking for something cool to do and fancied a bit of old school football following and few kraft beers.

I played for Clapton, many years sgo. Then went to Sudbury and Long Melford. Clapton have a great history. Amateur cup winners, 5 times and the first British team to play in Europe. My grandfather played for them too. I slso had my first pint in the Spotted Dog, now sadly closed. :-)

Norway - I played for their stiffs for a while when I was 16/17. They were in the bottom Ryman division at the time.

Part of my stellar career!

When he could no longer afford going to watch West Ham in the late 50's my grandad used to walk from his house in Matthews Park Avenue to the Spotted Dog in order to watch them play.

What Clapton Orient? The original Clapton Club?

Should have stayed there, now we are going to bankrupt them, apparently.

Re: Clapton FC
Clapton had nothing to do with Clapton Orient (later Leyton Orient) They existed as Clapton FC, from the 1870s, some 20 years before Clapton Orient.
No connection at all, between the two. Clapton started as Downs FC, but chsnged their name a year later and have been Clapton, since then.

Clapton FC my second team. Been there many times at the Spotted Dog, pro celebrity and ex player charity matches and took my kids there as a prelude to Upton Park. Good luck to them.

Re: Clapton FC
I like their history; i live 5 minutes from hackney Downs.

What I dont like is the politicisation of their football club.

that's for wanky Italian clubs, not for football in this country.
